KIRTAN – The congregational hearing and chanting of sacred mantras
Kirtan is the easiest form of meditation.
A “mantra” is a transcendental sound that, simply by
aural reception, has the power to awaken the soul to its full
spiritual potential.
There are no hard or fast rules to kirtan. Anyone, regardless of
race, gender, status, or religion, can join in this wonderful
spiritually healing activity.
You may listen and repeat, or just relax and relish as these
beautiful transcendental vibrations wash over you,
cleansing you of anxieties and fears that may be held deep
within your heart. Kirtan helps to gradually awaken our natural
loving relationship with the Supreme, bringing us closer to the happiness we all seek.
Feel free to dance and sing along with abandon, taking in the
mantras that are unlike any fleeting material sound. They
descend from the spiritual realm and are infused with God’s
love for us, quenching our eternal thirst for true love, peace
and happiness.

*meaning of the "Maha Mantra"
The Maha Mantra (also known as the "Hare Krishna" mantra) has been chanted from time immemorial by people
from all walks of life. It is not the exclusive property of any one group
or sect. The mantra consists of three names of God.
Hare refers to God’s energy, which includes all living beings
Krishna means “The All-Attractive Being”. God is all-attractive. Various names of God refer to attributes that naturally attract us to him, e.g.: Jehova “The Cause of all Causes”, Buddha “Enlightened”, Allah “Compassionate”, Govinda “Protector” etc. All these attractive attributes are encompassed within just this one sound, “KRISHNA”.
Rama – “He who fully satisfies those who serve him” (whereas we try to please everyone, yet are never able to satisfy everyone. This is likened to watering the leaves of a tree. But pleasing God is watering the root of the tree. When the Supreme is pleased with you, you automatically become happy, and so does everyone else around you).
